Well, finally it was time for the MOT so I booked it in at the local Vauxhall dealer as there are no fiat dealers near me and I have taken my Opel there before and they have been quite helpful and I wanted to talk to the MOT technition before he did the MOT to explain what work I had done and that the car had not been driven until bringing it down to them. He was super helpful and totally understood.
So after waiting around for them to do the MOT I went back to get the car and as I expected, it had failed 🙁
But, it was as they say, close, but no cigar 🙂
It failed on:
- the washer pump. Which to be honest I had forgotten to check and only filled it up in the morning before I left and the water coming out was pathetic! New one ordered.
- It failed on the headlight being too low, but I think that was where I had changed the indicator bulb, as you have to take the whole headlight unit out as well and the spring holding the indicator in place had slipped off. Spring back on and now I need to test it when its dark to see how it sits compared to the one that was ok.
- It failed on immisions too high on idle. So after some googling and looking on the Fiat forum, a few people suggest the Colant temp sensor, the MAP sensor and Air temp sensor, so I have ordered all 3 and will replace these. I didn’t think its the oxygen sensor as it was fine on high idle and runs fine, so I’m going to swap the above items and take it back and get another reading.
If its not fixed, I will have to try and get it over to a local (ish) garage that said they do Fiats and had a guy who seemed to know a bit about old Fiats!
Fingers crossed!!
